Honoured to facilitate a discussion this morning between representatives of the Kedron-Wavell Services Club Sub-Branch James Ah-Wong and Troy Peall with Robert Miller, MBA, CPA CEO and Brad Robertson, CSC, MBus (LogMgt), MPhil, GAICD Chair of Veteran Housing Australia.

We met to explore opportunities to work collaboratively to address veteran homelessness in Australia.

It is deeply concerning that, in a country as fortunate as Australia, around 6,000 veterans experience homelessness each year. These are Australians who have served our nation and should never face the uncertainty of not having a safe place to call home.

Veteran Housing Australia is a not-for-profit organisation and the only dedicated provider in Australia focused on housing solutions for veterans experiencing or at risk of, homelessness. Through the delivery of crisis, transitional, supportive and long-term housing, the organisation is making a tangible difference in the lives of veterans and their families.

The impact of this work is being strengthened by the extraordinary generosity of Mrs Gina Rinehart AO and her $200 million commitment towards helping address veteran homelessness across Australia.

Today’s discussion reinforced the importance of collaboration between ex-service organisations, community groups, government and the charitable sector. By working together, they can create practical pathways that provide vulnerable veterans with the housing stability and support they deserve.

Every veteran deserves the dignity, security and opportunity that comes with having a safe place to call home.
